DAVIS emerged as overall champion in DAV National Sports Cluster Tournament
The two day DAV National Sports Cluster Tournament came to an end with a happy note at DAV International School, Amritsar on 27th October, 2014 in which DAVIS out shined everyone and became overall champion. The entire tournament was a fun packed learning experience for approximately 600 students who participated in the event with full enthusiasm and honed their skills through 34 different competitions.
The closing ceremony, organised under the tutelage of Principal Anjana Gupta, was presided over by Sr. Jernail Singh Dhot, Councilor, Municipal Corporation, Amritsar and Co- Convener, BC cell, BJP, Punjab. Other dignitaries to grace the occasion included Sh. Rajesh Mehta, Chairman Sir, Dr V P Lakhanpal, Regional Director, Dr. Mrs. Neelam Kamra, Manager, Dr. K N Kaul , LMC member, Dr. Manchanda, Principal Neera Sharma, Principal Shabnam Handa, Principal Sanjeev Kochhar, Principal Paramjeet, Principal Kusum Sharma, and Principal Simmi Luthra.
The function began with traditional lamp lighting after which Principal Anjana Gupta extended floral welcome to the luminaries. Regional Director Dr. Mrs. Neelam Kamra welcomed the gathering through her speech and motivated the participants with her words of wisdom. Audience became spell bound by the mesmerizing dance choreography of DAVIANS,’ Dance upon a dream’ and appreciated it whole heartedly. Delivering the presidential address at the valedictory ceremony, Chief Guest Sr. Jernail Singh Dhot appreciated the efforts of the participants and applauded them by rewarding their efforts. School Management honoured the invited dignitaries with a token of love. Manager K N Kaul extended vote of thanks to the guests. The day concluded with National Anthem.
In this two day event, 19 different sports like Cricket, Hockey, Football, Gymnastic, Lawn Tennis, Judo, Kho- Kho, Badminton, Basketball, Handball, Table Tennis, Kabaddi, Chess, Yoga, Skating, Air Pistol, Athletics and swimming, were organized in DAV International School, DAV Public school and DAV Police Public School, Amritsar. In this tournament DAV International bagged the first position with maximum points and DAV Public School secured second position.
