PUNJAB ZONE SHINES AT DAV NATIONAL SPORTS
The 3-day DAV National Sports Girls Tournament- 2014 concluded today on a festive note with a grand closing ceremony organized on the sprawling campus of DAV International School. It was presided over by the honourable Chief Guest S. Kuljinder Singh Malhi, AEO Sports, Amritsar. Sh. J.P. Shoor, Director (PS-I) & Aided Schools and Chairman of the school – Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal also graced the occasion. Organized under the able stewardship of Sh. J.P. Shoor, Director (PS-I) & Aided Schools, Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra – Regional Director, and Cluster Incharge Principal, DAV International School Ms. Anjana Gupta, this event included 1200 girls from 155 DAV Schools from 13 different zones of India. A total of 17 events were conducted.
The closing ceremony on 12th Dec, 2014 began with a special floral welcome of the esteemed guest which was followed by a welcome address by the Chairman , Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal in which he expressed gratitude to S. Kuljinder Singh for gracing the occasion. He appreciated the untiring efforts of all the faculty members of DAV International School for such a well executed event. In his address to the august gathering, Chief Guest S. Kuljinder Singh Malhi extended his heartfelt thanks to the Principal of the school and motivated the participants to excel further in the fields of sports. He also distributed prizes to the winning teams and players of the tournament. A melodious presentation of the Earth Anthem was given by the students of the school. The function concluded with a foot-tapping energetic performance of Malwai Giddha by the Bhangra team of the school.
In this prestigious event, Punjab Zone emerged as the winner with 132 points and Delhi NCR was the Runner-up with 58 points.
