DAV International hosts Power Point Presentation Competition on Disaster Management
In order to help students develop life skill practices that will ensure their safety during or following an earthquake or other disasters, a Power Point Presentation Competition on Disaster Management was organised under the aegis of Sahodaya Schools Complex, Amritsar at DAV International School, Amritsar on 20th May, 2015. As many as 34 teams from different schools in and around Amritsar participated in the competition. Ms. Sudeep Kaur, District Science Supervisor and Principal Dr. Dharamveer Singh, Chairman Sahodaya School Complex, Amritsar were the special guests of the day. Mr. Surjeet Sharma, Prof. Mrs. Neelam Prabha and Dr. Seema Arora were appointed as the judges for the day.
The day commenced with lamp lighting which was followed by felicitation of guests and judges by Principal Anjana Gupta. The Principal, in her speech, extended formal welcome to the dignitaries and participating teams. She motivated the students by saying that competitions are not meant for winning alone rather they are a good source of learning. To move the conscious of the people present, DAVIANS presented the Earth Anthem. Ms. Sudeep Kaur addressed the participants as messengers for coming generation. She said that students need to educate the masses and prepare them to face the disasters, minimizing the loss of life and property. Thereafter, the participants gave their presentations and enthralled the audience. The host school presented its sensational Qawwali which has qualified the first round of India's got Talent, a popular show of Colors channel. Dr. Dharamveer Singh, in his address motivated the participants by saying that they all were the winners because they were the chosen ones. He also applauded them for their toiling efforts.
The host Principal honored the special guests and the judges with mementoes. In the competition, The Senior Study II School bagged the first position, second position was secured by Spring Dales Senior School, Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, GT Road got the third position and Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Sultanwind Link Road and The Millennium School got the first and second consolation prizes respectively.
