DAV International School inaugurates CBSE National Skating Championship-2016

DAV International School, Amritsar wore a festive look for the inaugural ceremony of CBSE National Skating Championship- 2016, on 29th December.  Mr. Sandeep Rishi, Chief Administrator, Amritsar Development Authority graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

The inaugural ceremony, organised under the auspices of Principal Anjana Gupta, was graced  by Chairman of the school, Dr. V P Lakhanpal, Manager, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal, DAV Public School Lawrence Road , Dr. Neera Sharma, LMC members, S. Satnam Singh and Sh. Shiv Kumar Gupta, member of Arya Samaj Sh.Atul Mehra, , Chief Referee, S. Inderjeet Singh, Technical Advisor, Roller Skating Federation of India,  S.Balwinder Singh, member, Speed Technical Committee, RSFI ,Anthony James, and Officiating In-charge, MKD DAV Public School, Neshta Attari, Gurwinder Singh Bhatti.

The celebration started with the warm welcome of the guests.It was followed by floral welcome of the guests and traditional lamp lighting ceremony. DAV Gaan and Chanting of Vedic mantras created a pious and spiritual atmosphere. Mrs. Anjana Gupta, the Principal of the host school welcomed the participants hailing from various schools across the country along with the managers and coaches associated with them. “Alignment”, the fusion of different moves of Yoga, Gymnastics, Skating, Karate and Aerobics  was performed by the students of DAVIS which left the spectators mesmerized. The Chief Guest hoisted the flag after which the participants presented March Past . Young DAVIANS presented, ‘Ebullience in Steps’, the presentation of different dance forms of various states of India which was lauded by everyone present there. The Chief Guest declared the championship open by releasing tri-coloured balloons and lighting the sports flame. He, in his speech applauded the efforts of the participating teams for reaching this platform and gave the credit to the schools for providing good opportunities to the students and expressed satisfaction over their growth. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, the manager of the host school, presented vote of thanks to all the participants and their coaches, managers, office bearers of CBSE and others.

The function concluded with the National Anthem, leaving behind the promise of stunning performances of skaters from all the seven zones of CBSE. Nearly 591 skaters from 315 CBSE-affiliated schools will exhibit their skills in this prestigious championship.
