Teej Celebration

Festivity and colorful hues were witnessed on the premises of D.A.V. International School, Verka Chowk, Amritsar as the festival of Teej was celebrated by the students through a special morning assembly. Students highlighted the importance of this festival. Teej is an Indian festival which is celebrated by women during the monsoons. They  observe a strict fast during this festival to obtain the blessings of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva for a happy married life. Teej also means third. The third day after Amavasya of the Shravan month holds a special significance. It is believed that on the day of Teej, Goddess Parvati came to Lord Shiva’s abode, thereby marking the re-union of husband and wife. Students dressed up beautifully in Punjabi attires danced to bhangra beats and Punjabi boliyan.To make the celebration memorable and more enjoyable, a cultural programme was prepared by the students under the guidance and supervision of their teachers. Swings were decorated with scented flowers. School principal Anjana Gupta congratulated everybody on the occasion and motivated students that motto of organizing various cultural activities is to help students to relate and bond them with their culture.She was overwhelmed with the preparations and creativity of students. Kheer and malpuras were also served to children and teachers.
