It was a red letter day in the star-studded history of DAV International School Amritsar, when its Principal Ms. Anjana Gupta was honoured with the highest award of DAVCMC i.e. Mahatma Hans Raj Award for commendable contribution in the field of education. The award that carries a gold medal and commendation certificate was conferred on her by Arya Rattan Sh. Punam Suri Ji, President DAV CMC, New Delhi, the spiritual leader of national acclaim, Sh. Sumedha Nand Ji, Vice Chancellor of DAV University, Jallandhar, Dr. A.K. Kohli & eminent educationists & Arya Samajists of the country. It was presented to her during a glittering ceremony organized to inaugurate DAV University at Jallandhar & to commemorate Mahatma Hans Raj day.

Principal Anjana Gupta was selected for this great honour in recognition of her mammoth services rendered in the field of education & Arya Samaj. Ever since her joining of DAV International School, the infrastructure, the student strength, results, facilities provided to students – everything has gone from better to best. Within a short span of her tenure, the student strength has risen to 5250, the infrastructure of the school has increased manifold & the school has shown both qualitative & quantitative growth in scholastic as well as co-scholastic fields. Students have grabbed top honours at international, national & state levels. Due to the untiring efforts of Principal Anjana Gupta, the school has won International School Award twice in a row, National School Sanitation Award, Green Award & many other national & state level awards.

The Principal herself has received some of the most prestigious awards from the leading personalities of the country like Mr. Kapil Sibal, the then Human Resource Development Minister, Govt. of India, Mr. M.M. Pallam Raju, present Minister Human Resource Development, S. Prakash Singh Badal, Chief Minister of Punjab & Sh. Ramakant Goswami, Minister of transport, Elections, Law & Labour, Govt. of Delhi etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Anjana Gupta gave the entire credit for this honour to the guidance & support of DAV CMC, New Delhi, CBSE, New Delhi, the Chairman of the School Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal, the Regional Director, Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, Manager, Dr. K.N. Kaul. She also gave the credit for this glorious achievement with the hard work of her competent faculty& the diligence of her students.  She reiterated her faith in honest hard work and repeated her resolve to move on & on till the school attained top honours not in the country alone, but the whole world.

She was profusely praised by Sh. J.P. Shoor, Director (PS-I & Aided Schools), the school Chairman,  Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal & Regional Director, Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, Manager, Dr.K.N. Kaul, who congratulated & blessed her on receiving this highly deserved honour.

The faculty & students of the school organized a grand reception in the honour of their leader. She was welcomed with a rain of flower petals & colourful graffiti & presented bouquets & garlands by the entire DAVIS family. The beats of drum & the earth-shaking Bhangra presented by the students & staff drenched the whole school in the spirit of gaiety.

DAV International School, Amritsar adds yet another feather to its cap by winning the prestigious Green Schools Award – 2013 under New Schools - National Category. The school has not only won this coveted honour but emerged topper in the list of winners chosen from the whole country on the basis of a rigorous self-audit on environmental practices within their own premises, following a set of guidelines issued by Centre for Science & Environment. The award was conferred upon the Principal, Ms. Anjana Gupta by Sh. Ramakant Goswami, Minister of Transport, Eelction, Law & Labour, Government of Delhi, Mr. Rahul Ram & Mr. Amit Kilam, members of world-famed Indian rock-band, Indian Ocean in a glittering award ceremony held at Stein auditorium, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi on 12^th April, 2013.

The school has been selected for this honour for its exemplary work in environmental conservation by minimizing water consumption, optimizing energy use, using mass transport modes, catering to bio-diversity conservation & other innovative practices in the field. The award carries a beautiful trophy & a commendation certificate.

Speaking about this achievement, Principal of the school, Ms. Anjana Gupta said, “Environment is among our top priorities & we are committed to provide a healthy, hygienic & pollution-free environment to our students & our utmost endeavour will always be to be eco-friendly & spread awareness about environmental issues among the masses also. The school has also received the prestigious National School Sanitation Award 2012 instituted by Govt. Of India, CBSE & giz. The award carried a cash prize of Rs. 60,000/- & a plaque”.

DAVIS achieved yet another milestone under the patronage of Principal Ms. Anjana Gupta, for being conferred with International School Award and also getting selected as a school in the top category of the region in the 5^th EDU Conv Ex held at India International centre, New Delhi. The school has been specially felicitated with this award by Cambridge University ESOL and Planet EDU for preparing candidates for the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the world’s leading range of qualifications for learners of English. This award was presented by the Director of QAIE Mr. John Kair and CEO Prof. Peter Johns.

Maintaining its distinct identity as an institute which keeps on evolving ways and means to impart holistic education to students in order to give exposure to our students and to keep pace with global scenario, the school prepares them for different International Examinations like English language championship and another key tests conducted by Cambridge ESOL. Our shining star, Gunjan Malhotra  of class VIII stood first in 3^rd level of all India English language championship 2012, and 7 other high achievers who appeared for various Exams conducted by Cambridge ESOL were awarded with certificates.
