EDUCATION MINISTER DR. DALJEET SINGH CHEEMA, HONOURS THE YOUNG ACHIEVERS AT DAV INTERNATIONAL
It was a Red Letter Day for DAV International School when the honourable Education Minister of Punjab – Dr. Daljeet Singh Cheema presided over the 17th Annual Award Ceremony of the school. The other illustrious figures present on the occasion were – Dr. Satinderbir Singh, District Education Officer, Amritsar; Smt. Amandeep Kaur, GA to D.C.; Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal, Chairman of the school & Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Manager of the school. Sardar Kulwinder Singh Bajwa; Sardar Rajinder Singh Marwaha, Director, Trade Board;Sardar Kuljit Singh, Member Incharge, Chief Khalsa Diwan.
The Award Function commenced with the sacred lamp lighting ceremony followed by the presentation of colourful bouquets & tokens of love for the esteemed Chief Guest and other dignitaries. The cultural extravaganza included a soulful Shabad sung mellifluously by the students of the school, a glimpse of the school through Fusion Dance, a melodious Qwali and an earth shaking amalgm of Punjabi Dances i.e. Bhangra & Giddha. Afterwards, 142 achievers from academic and co-curricular fields received Awards of Honour from the distinguished Chief Guest. They were presented mementoes, books and cash prizes sponsored by Dr. Sameen Singh Memorial Academics Awards..
The Annual School Magazine ‘Pratha’ was released by the worthy Chief Guest of this occasion. He also performed the honourable task of inaugurating the Guest House of the school.
Principal Anjana Gupta, in her address to the august gathering, extended her heartfelt gratitude to the honourable Chief Guest for gracing the school with his benign presence and congratulated the prize winners for their stupendous achievements. She also presented a brief overview of various activities and remarkable achievements of the school.
Chairman of the school Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal also accorded a cordial welcome to the dignified guests. He congratulated the young achievers, showered his blessings on them for their bright & prosperous future and also advised them to continue doing hard work to achieve still greater heights in life.
Chief Guest Dr. Daljeet Singh Chemma remarked that he felt delighted & privileged to be a part of the Annual Award Ceremony of this prestigious institution. He was full of praise for the Principal of the school for making wonderful arrangements for the event. He further added that skill-based education should be given to the students to enable them to stand on their feet in their future lives. He extended his heartfelt felicitations to the students & their parents for their special achievements.
Other eminent guests present on the occasion were- Dr Jeevanjyoti Sadana, Prof.Amardeep Gupta, Madam Amardeep Kaur and members of Arya Samaj- Sh.Rakesh Mehra, Sh.Hira Lal Kandhari and Sh.Sandeep Ahuja.
The mega event concluded with the singing of National Anthem.
