Commemorating the death anniversary of the great epitome of sacrifice, Mahatma Hans Raj, DAV International School, Amritsar organized a holy hawan under the aegis of Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Upsabha, Punjab on November 12, 2017 at Arya Samaj Lohgarh, Amritsar. The school Chairman, Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal, Regional Director Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra; Manager Dr. Rajesh Kumar were specially present on the occasion.

The guest were greeted with garlands. The girl students of the school recited the vedic mantras and the hosts offered oblations clarified butter and hawan material in the sacred fire.
The host Principal, Ms. Anjana Gupta, in her address extended a formal welcome to the gathering and threw light on the life and virtues of Mahatma Hans Raj. She also said that he was the epitome of sacrifice, hard-work, honesty and selflessness and believed that our education is worthful only if others get benefitted from it.

Dr. V.P.Lakhanpal, while talking to the gathering, said that Vedas are the base of our culture. Therefore it is the utmost responsibility of the schools to impart vedic education to their students and bring them closer to their culture. He congratulated the host school and applauded the efforts of the students for the smooth conduct of hawan ceremony.
Dr. (Mrs.) NeelamKamra, in her speech said that the foundation of DAV Educational Institutional was Mahatma Hans Raj’s commendable step in the field of education. She also said that vedic mantras play an important role in the character building of a man and help in his evolution in real sense.

The school Manager, Dr. Rajesh Kumar extended his heartfelt gratitude to the gathering and said that Mahatma Hans Raj’s life reflected sacrifice. He appreciated the efforts of the girl students for their role in hawan ceremony. He also said that the main purpose of hawan is to impart moral values and ethics to the younger generation.

On this occasion, the students of DAV International School presented a short play on the life of Mahatma Hansraj conveying the message of service above self and reflected on the need of evolution of man from demon to human. They also sang the melodious hymns. Mr. Surender Mehra distributed winter uniforms among the student of 
Nav Prerna, a unit of DAV International School, run to educate the children of the under privileged strata of society.
In order to motivate the girl participants of hawan ceremony 
Dr. V.P. Lakhanpal gave a cash prize of Rs. 2000/-, Mr. Dinesh Arya Rs. 1100/-, Rs 1100/- by Mrs. Balbir Bedi and 500/- Rs. were given by Mr. Vimal Kumar Arya. The present dignitaries were honoured with Mementoes.

On the occasion of the sacred hawan ceremony, Principal Ajay Beri, Social Worker Sh. Surender Mehra members of DAV LMC Committee. Advocate Mr. Sudarshan Kapoor, Arya Samajies Mr. Inderpal Arya, Mr. Dinesh Arya, Mr. Rakesh Mehra, Mr. Vimal Kumar, Mr. Gaurav Kumar, the Principals of various DAV Institutions, Principal Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal Sanjeev Kochhar, Principal Paramjit Kumar, Principal Sunita Sharma, Principal Nishi Sharma, Smt. Balbir Bedi along with the teaching staff were present.

The ceremony concluded with Shanti Paath.
