On May 28, 2018, the Martyrdom Day of Jhansi Ki Rani Lakshmi Bai was celebrated under the stewardship of Principal Anjana Gupta, in which a play based on the eventful life of Rani was presented by the artists of Social Society of Rani Jhansi, Amritsar. This event was presided over by Prof. Laxmi Kanta Chawla and Sh. Pawan Kundra, the patrons of this Social Society as the Main Guests. Sh. Rakesh Sharma, Smt. Neelam Sharma, Smt. Santosh Sareen and Sh. Rajesh Pathak – worthy members of the society were also present. After the sacred lamp lighting ceremony and a warm floral welcome of the esteemed guests, Principal Anjana Gupta addressed the gathering and paid her rich tributes to this great woman. She remarked that Rani Luxmi Bai is an inspiration for every woman and her life story is a proof that a female is not a weaker sex , rather she can be a symbol of immense strength and perseverance if a situation demands. The members of Alfaaz Theatre Group gave a splendid performance of Rani Luxmi Bai’s life, right from her birth to her martyrdom. They depicted that how she fought fearlessly to get our Mother India free from the clutches of Britishers. Artist Mandeep Ghai left the audience spellbound with her powerful depiction of Rani Luxmi Bai’s character.
In her address, Prof. Luxmi Kanta Chawla , advised everyone, especially girls, to walk on the footsteps of Rani. She strongly highlighted the fact that men and women are at par, no one should be considered as inferior or superior. She was full of praise and regard for Rani for her invaluable contribution in the freedom struggle of India.
A beautiful dance performance was also given by the students of the school on this occasion. The event ended with the distribution of tokens of love to the worthy Guests followed by the chanting of National Anthem.
