DAV INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, AMRITSAR CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
To commemorate the Yoga Day Celebration, DAV International School organized a Yoga session for the students on 21st June, 2018 on its premises. Keen enthusiasm for Yoga was visible from the fact that about 500 students & faculty members participated in this Eveny, inspite of the ongoing summer break. In this hour long session,
the participants were acquainted with the innumerable benefits of practicing Yoga in everyday life by the Yoga instructor of the school. The instructor also demonstrated various Asanas and simultaneously told about the benefits of each. The participants were also made to practised these asanas which included – Advasana, Agnistambhasana, Vajrasana, Kapalbhaati, Lom-Vilom, Dandasana, Garudasana, Sirsasana and Pranayaam.
Principal Anjana Gupta, in her address, remarked that the practice of Yoga dates back to thousands of years but got declined with the passage of time due to hectic lifestyle of people, which started resulting in physical as well as mental ailments for the humans.
She recommended that, irrespective of age, Yoga should be practised by one & all to attain general well–being.
On this occasion, Chairman of the school, Dr. V P Lakhanpal, Regional Director,
Dr. Neelam Kamra, Manager, Dr. Rajesh Kumar and Principal Anjana Gupta extended heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi for giving an opportunity to the schools to celebrate the International Yoga Day. The school was also thankful to CBSE and DAV CMC, New Delhi for making Yoga an integral part of the school curriculum.
