DAV International School, Amritsar, wore a festive look, illuminating with shining faces for its Annual Award Giving ceremony titled ‘Lakshay- the ultimate objective’ on August 04, 2014,which was  presided over by Dr. Sadhana Parashar, Director (Academics, Research, Training and Innovation) CBSE as the Chief Guest.

After a warm and traditional welcome, the revered Chief Guest, inaugurated the two recently added attributes of the school infrastructure, the elevator and the cafeteria, ‘Healthy Bites.’ The celebration commenced with Earth Anthem which elated the audience. Bouquet presentation by the members of the school management was followed by the sacred lamp lighting ceremony. Ms. Anjana Gupta, the Principal of the school welcomed the esteemed guests and presented the brief Annual Report, focusing on the achievements of the school. With sense of pride she remarked that DAV International has covered a long way since its inception and won wide recognition all over India by excelling in areas of scholastic and co- scholastic activities. All the guests immensely applauded the magnificient achievements of the school under the able patronage of Mrs. Anjana Gupta. Thereafter a meaningful and captivating play, ‘Lakshay- the ultimate objective’ was performed by around 500 young DAVIANS, leaving the spectators spell bound. It presented the saga of man who stumbles and being fallible is yet to achieve his ultimate objective.Vices like greed, lust, anger have overpowered him and the process of evolution from darkness to light is still going on.

Fusion dance, an amalgam of various dance forms, was presented by the students which enthralled the audience. This cultural extravaganza full of sparkling showcase of different dance forms was a feast to the eyes. This was followed by a mellifluous and mesmerizing presentation especially dedicated to the honourable Chief guest, Dr. Sadhana Prashar.

On this special occasion, the annual magazine of the school, ‘Pratha’ based on the theme ‘Save Water’ was also released by the prestigious Chief Guest. In her presidential address, Dr. Sadhana Parashar, the Chief Guest stressed on the dire need of inculcating compassion in the students and prepare them for life challenges. She gave the credit to the school for its achievements and expressed satisfaction over its stupendous growth and complimented it for having all the basic attributes to be a CBSE ambassador in the coming years. The Principal of the school extended a token of love with a deep sense of gratitude to the revered Chief Guest for honouring the school with her sagacious presence. Achievers, both individuals and teams were honoured with trophies and certificates by the Chief Guest, Management and Principal. This year the school also awarded Late DR. Urmila Lakhanpal memorial scholarship and Late Dr. Sameen Singh memorial scholarship to the meritorious students. Sewing machines and uniforms were distributed to the girls and children from the under privileged strata of the society receiving vocational training and education from the two service units of the school, Nav Chetna and Nav Prerna respectively. 

On this occasion the vote of thanks was given by Chairman, Dr. V P Lakhanpal, in which he was full of praise for the worthy Chief Guest for sparing time out of her busy schedule to grace this function. He also applauded the efforts of Principal, staff and students for putting up such a wonderful cultural fiesta. Smt.
