DAV International School honours Teachers’ genius and diligence

DAV International School, Amritsar organized a glitzy Teachers’ Day function under the stewardship and tutelage of Principal Dr. Anjana Gupta. On this occasion, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Arya, vice president DAV managing Committee, New Delhi and Dr. J P Shoor (Director P.S. I and Aided Schools) of DAVCMC, New Delhi presided over the event as the Chief Guests of the day. The Chairman of the school, Dr. V P Lakhanpal, Regional Officer, Dr. Neelam Kamra and Mr. Indrapal Arya too illumined the occasion with their graceful presence. The programme commenced with sacred lamp lighting ceremony followed by a tribute to the great teacher and second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Principal Dr. Anjana Gupta extended floral welcome to the dignitaries. She, in her welcome address to the gathering, expressed her felicitations and said that an ideal teacher is the one who keeps updating his knowledge and never stagnates. The role of a teacher in the nation building is incredible. Teachers are not common people and common people are not teachers and therefore teachers must be proud of their profession. She also said that a teacher is a true guiding force behind the success of a student. Behind every nation’s, society’s and school’s progress, there is a dedicated and diligent teacher.

On this occasion, the school choir gave a melodious presentation of DAV Gaan. A power point presentation on the school’s achievements was also shown to the gathering. On this occasion, teachers presented a hymn ‘Mil kar Om japo’. A student, Mahika, presented a poem on the importance of Teachers. School students sang a beautiful Qawwali to mesmerize the audience. The young DAVIANS also presented a meaningful play based on the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan, Mahatma Hansraj Ji, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. Ramesh Arya and Dr. JP Shoor which reflected the importance and role of teachers in one’s life.

Dr. J P Shoor, while interacting with the teachers, extended his congratulations on Teachers’ day and said that Dr. Radhakrishnan’s life is a source of inspiration for one and all and this motivated many to become an ideal teacher. Talking about the ex- President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, he said that the latter always credited his teachers for his successful life. He also said that a teacher’s dedication and submission to duty is incredible and no money can buy this satisfaction.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar Arya commenced his address taking the blessings of his teacher Dr. V P Lakhanpal and expressed his gratitude for the knowledge he received on his hands. Congratulating the teachers for Teachers’ Day, he said that teachers need to do self-introspection and upgrade themselves so that they may become true role models and epitome of knowledge for their students. He also said that the time has come when schools should create more role models like Dr. Radhakrishnan, Mahatma Hansraj Ji, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam etc for the benefit of nation and society. Talking about DAV family, he said that it is the biggest educational organization with approximately 1000 schools, 300 colleges, almost 34 lakhs students and 3 lakhs teachers under its shade.

Dr. Neelam Kamra also congratulated the gathering on the occasion and said that teaching profession is nothing but a pious commitment of giving right guidance to the new generation of the nation so that they may become ideal citizens. Dr. V P Lakhanpal gave vote of thanks to the audience and applauded the efforts of the school Principal and teachers in taking school to newer heights. He said that it is the teacher who recognizes the skill of a student, polishes him and makes him a better person.

All the dignitaries were honoured with a memento and a planter. The dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff members of the school were honoured for their service of ten years. School coordinators were honoured for their endless support. Teachers of secondary and senior secondary were rewarded for excellent board result. Three students of the school, Nandini Rikhi, Aayush and Jasleen were honoured with Vanita Narang, Kapil Kapoor and Reema kumari memorial award of 3100 rupees respectively. The students of the service units of the school, Nav Chetna and Nav Prerna were given uniforms. On this occasion, Mr. Shiv Kumar Gupta, Sardar Satnam Singh, Dr. Nikita Kalia, Mr. Rakesh Mehra, Mr. Mukesh Anand, Mr. Praveen Kumar, Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Principal Anita Menon, Principal Ajay Beri, Principal Paramjit Kumar, Principal, Sunita, Principal Manoj Kumar, Principal Indu, Principal Nishi and Principal Lakhwinder alond with press reporter Mr. Deepak were also present on this event. The event concluded with National anthem.
