A seminar on seed balls was conducted on the premises of DAV International School on September 21, 2019 to spread awareness among the students. It was held under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Anjana Gupta at DAV International School on September 21, 2019. Mr. Rohit Mehra (IRS Officer–Additional Commissioner Income Tax Ludhiana) presided over as the Chief Guest and the Resource Person. The seminar commenced with lamp lighting followed by a formal welcome of the guest. The Principal Dr. Anjana Gupta expressed her gratitude by giving him the nature’s best gift in the form of a planter. Further a taken of love was also given to the guest. The blessings of the almighty were invoked through a Bhajan, sung by a mentor of the school, Mr. Prince Sahni.

Later on the guest was invited on the stage where he interacted with the students to let them know about the benefits of the seed balls. During his address, he emphasised upon the advantages of these balls. He told the students that a person can plant a sapling or two at a time but through this process one can sow number of seeds at the same time. This wasn’t just in words, an initiative has been taken which turned to be a real success. It has been done in Ludhiana and even in Amritsar too.

Simultaneously an activity was initiated through which students were taught to make the seed balls. Next, he stressed upon plantation of certain trees, i.e. Ashoka, Sacred Fig (Peepal), Banyan, Phyllanthus Emblica (Ambala) and Aegle Marmelos (Belpatra) for a specific reason. These trees have the potential to live longer as compared to the other trees.

Lastly, he advised the students to say no to plastic and use eco-friendly items. On the whole, it was genuinely a worthwhile and constructive to understand the importance of trees in our life.
