Amidst a festive look, DAV International School, Amritsar, felicitated its academic as well as co-curricular achievers on the Annual Prize Distribution Day on December 21, 2019. The event was illumined by Sardar Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha Constituency, Amritsar and Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS Commissioner of Police, Amritsar. Chairman Dr. V.P Lakhanpal, Regional Director, Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Karma and Manager Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Mrs. Nirmal Gupta, Member of DAV CMC and LMC members also added to the glow with their graceful presence.

The function commenced with sacred Lamp Lighting followed by DAV Gaan. Principal Dr. Anjana Gupta extended green welcome to the esteemed Guests and honoured them with Tokens of Gratitude. The Shabad Gayan performed by students, spellbound everyone present there. In her address, the Principal welcomed the gathering and presented the School Annual Report. She told that students are doing wonders while exhibiting their extraordinary talent in the field of academics as well as cultural activities. She said that the holistic development of the students is the prime aim of the school and that’s why their caliber is acknowledged and enhanced throughout. She also talked about the role of teachers and the efforts of students in their success.

The Eminent Guests honoured around 300 scholastic and co-scholastic achievers. The students were honored with cash prizes in the form of Late Dr. Urmila Lakhanpal Scholarship and Late Dr. Sameen Singh Scholarship. By the medium of his presidential speech, Dr. Sukhchain Singh showered his blessings and expressed happiness for the way the school had showcased the talent of the students. Talking about the importance of hard work, he said that it is only through hard work that we can achieve the goals of our life. He lauded the students for their achievements and motivated them to keep excelling in their future ventures as well.

S. Gurjeet Singh Aujla too congratulated the performers and laid special stress on the significance of sports in one’s life. He said that students should be motivated to excel both scholastically and co-scholastically so that they can enhance their overall progress. He said that education is the foundation of the aspirations of the youth and with its help, they can choose and seek their interests. He announced an aid of Rs. 5 Lac for the school as school development fund.

Based on the theme ‘Navrang’, various cultural presentations by the students like Qawali, Meme, Fusion Dance, Gatka, and Bhangra, left everyone awestruck and mesmerized. The prominent LMC Members like Dr. Amardeep Singh Kahlon, Dr. Nikhita Kahlon, Dr. Richa Thaman, Dr. Mrs. & Mr. Amandeep Chandi, Dr. Rajiv Lakhanpal and Mrs. Sushma Lakhanpal, Prof. Jijina Gupta and parents of the students were also present on this occasion. The event concluded with National Anthem.
