A spectacular programme was organised at DAV International School under the able guidance of Dr. Anjana Gupta, Principal, DAV International School on January 10, 2020 to celebrate Lohri. Various spellbinding cultural performances were given by the students.Tiny tots of classes Pre- Nursery, Nursery and LKG also showcased their talent by giving mesmerizing dance performances on punjabi folk songs.

Dr. Anjana Gupta, in her address, gave her warm wishes to every member of the institution. She shared the importance of the festival and told that this festival announces the end of winters and is a traditionalwelcomeof longer days and sun’s journey towards the northern hemisphere.She also added that the bonfire lit on lohri night engulfs in it the vices of jealousy, arrogance, maliciousness etc. She joyfully mentioned the tradition of kite flying on this festival and refrained children from using Chinese thread for safety purposes. The students pledged not to use Chinese thread for flying the kites. The bonfire was lit andevery one came forward to take the blessings of the holy bonfire. The melodies of the lohri song “Sunder Mundariye” filled the air of the campus with festivity.
